“An interesting and ambitious project, to celebrate our common humanity, to give it a shape. It has the potential to shift the way we see ourselves – each of us one part of everyone. I wish the project well.”
Desmond Tutu Archbishop Emeritus.
What is The Everyone Foundation?
The Everyone Foundation is an Human Rights think tank. We explore how to increase everyone’s appreciation of our common humanity, and how to enable this increased appreciation to translate into different and more positive behaviour. By Everyone. With Everyone.
What does that mean?
Fundamentally, we think that a greater focus and awareness on our ‘humanness’ will make the world a better place. We believe that our other identities (nationality, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, sexuality, social status, etc.) have reduced our focus on our humanness – the extent to which we are all the same.
We believe we need to do some work to explore the strategies we adopt to assert our difference and also explore what helps us feel connected to each other. Then help people across the world do less of the former, and more of the latter.
We are also interested in what impact this will have on our ability to resolve pressing international issues such as extreme poverty, preventable disease, conflict and climate change. We believe that by strengthening our sense of our common humanity, greater global collaboration, action and harmony can be achieved.
How do we work?
The Everyone Foundation is dedicated to addressing this issue through four strands of activity.
· Secondary research (answering the question – what do we know already?) · Making connections (answering the question – who is already working on this, is grounded and has resources) · Engaging everyone (using leadership and technologies to create a global conversation and exploring the value of symbols to reflect and embody our identity at it’s highest level) · Action research (answering the most pressing questions that we develop)
What stage are we at?
We are a new organisation, and are currently applying for charitable status. We are establishing a virtual organisation and developing an action plan under our 4 strands of activity.

What are we trying to achieve?
We are; · focusing on how similar we are – how we are all the same · making each of us more aware of all the other people we share this planet with · making us feel more connected and responsible for each other · improving access to universal goods, services, programs and creating new markets · using the power of identity to create change
Who are we working with at the moment?
Our newest project is funded by the Department for International Development and we are working with the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) in partnership with Oxfam.
